Performance Mods Listing


This section of the mod listing displays all performance related mods. Generally, these relate to the ongoing quest for improved power development of the 1987-1992 oil-head GSX-1100R based Bandit motor, related to the ignition system, intake and exhaust system, etc.

Mods displayed are both actual mods done to date, and mods that are planned for future. Some of the more technical mods, i will attempt to explain/demonstrate further on their own separate pages.

*NOTE* Look elsewhere on this site in the links section for technical info/mod links to other sites. I will not explain in detail how to do a modification, if data exists elsewhere as I am not into reinventing the wheel. Also, as an additional note of caution, some of these mods/procedures require some technical info, shop manuals, and a degree of mechanical competency and aptitude - If your bike should happen to blow up after following and/or trying to emulate this or any other site's directions, it is not my fault nor my responsibility. However, in the event of mechanical mayhem, picture submissions are always welcome.

UPDATE - June 4th, 2001:

On startup, motorcycle backfired through no.2 carburetor, destroying the plastic flatslide component. In contacting Mikuni America, I found out that there is a recall of sorts on these carbs to replace the plastic flatslides with aluminum replacement to prevent fracture in a backfire situation. Carbs sent to Mikuni America in California for rework.
UPDATE - July 5th, 2001:

Carbs returned and reinstalled. Bike is carbureting 100% better, from even before the carb slide failure.

Dale Walker Stage 2 carburetor kit

Meant to supplant the flatslide carbs, the Dale Walker stage 2 kit has been installed on the stock carbs, to allow use of bike during flatslide down-time.
